WELCOME TO TINA GLYNN THERAPIES

 ​My career in healthcare has been long and diverse. I trained as a registered nurse in Southampton during the 1980s, later specialising in cancer and palliative care. I gained extensive experience in cancer care while working at Hospitals across the UK including the Royal Marsden, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Epsom Hospital, and St. George’s in London, where I held senior clinical nurse specialist positions, including Oncology Matron. Eventually, I became the lead nurse for palliative care.

 

Almost 30 years ago, I began my journey into holistic health and touch therapies, training first as a massage therapist and then as an aromatherapist at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital. My goal was to integrate these therapies into my nursing practice, and I continued to develop my career by earning a BSc (Hons) in healthcare. I became deeply passionate about holistic health and empowering patients to participate in their own healing journey. In 2004, I completed an MSc in complementary therapies from the University of Westminster, with my dissertation focusing on the integration of therapies in cancer care. This research played a key role in shaping the complementary therapy service I additionally managed at St. George’s. I am committed to keeping my clinical practice up to date and in 2020

I completed the Advanced Clinical Massage (ACMT) course with the Jing Academy in Brighton.  Additionally, I’ve incorporated Deep Oscillation Therapy and Lymphatouch (negative pressure) into my practice as helpful tools in treating my clients.

 

In 2006, I took on my dream role as the Programme Manager at Breast Cancer Haven in Fulham (sadly dissolved after the pandemic). This charity provided free access to a range of therapies, emotional support, and health education. I managed a large team of complementary therapists offering nutritional therapy, herbal medicine, TCM acupuncture, reflexology, shiatsu, aromatherapy and counselling as well as overseeing the workshop and class programme. Alongside my management duties, I assessed clients, recommended treatment plans, and provided massage and aromatherapy. Recognising the effects of breast cancer treatment on the lymphatic system, I went on to develop skills in scar therapy and lymphoedema management. I completed both the lymphoedema nursing course and the Leduc MLD course at the Royal Marsden and later trained in the FG-MLD (Fill and Flush technique), a pioneering lymphatic drainage technique developed by Professor Jean-Paul Belgrado. At Breast Cancer Haven, I also taught lymphoedema awareness and exercise programs.

 

I have learned various approaches to scar therapy, initially training with South African physiotherapist Willie Fourie and later studying Sharon Wheeler’s ScarWork™️ and more recently Restore Scar Therapy, with the renowned Emma Holly. I completed the Scar Practitioner, Oncology Scar Specialist, and C-Section Scar courses, and in 2023, I joined Emma’s team as a tutor, teaching Restore Oncology Scar Specialist and Scar Therapy Practitioner courses throughout the UK.

 

During the pandemic I joined the complementary therapy team at the Royal Marsden, providing aromatherapy, massage and scar therapy. Whilst I worked across all hospital departments my main focus was with paediatrics. 

 

In 2021, after 16 years at Breast Cancer Haven, I suddenly found myself at a crossroads. I initially trying a few nursing roles, but soon realised they weren’t the right fit anymore. Encouraged by friends and clients, I decided to take a leap and open my own private clinic—a decision that, while nerve-wracking at first, has been incredibly rewarding. I am passionate about touch therapies and their ability to help people recover from cancer, surgery, trauma, injuries, and even emotional and mental health challenges.

 

My clinical expertise has expanded beyond cancer to include the treatment and management of non-cancer-related lymphoedema, lipoedema, general and C-section scars, post-cosmetic surgery recovery, and burns. In 2023, I had the privilege of participating in an event organised by Dans Fund for Burns, where I joined a team of Restore Scar Therapists to offer free scar treatments for burn survivors. It was a profoundly humbling experience that I will always cherish.
